Back in Business: The Re-Brand

Reading this and watching me break my hiatus in real time, some of you may ask: 'Where have you been?" Especially the one who have been around for a while...

To answer the question that has been reoccurring in my life, I had to rebrand, I had to regroup, because who I was wasn't exactly working for the woman I strive daily to become. However, there are certain parts of the old version of me that I need to propel me into a brighter future for myself.

Blogging has been such a monumental gateway in helping me figure not only my life out and discover/uncover myself, but also figuring out how I wanted to structure my business and the kind of people I wanted to center my business around. In a sense, it also helped shaped how I wanted my brand to reflect all phases of who I am. Because while I can’t change what I’ve been through, I’m thankful for the journey where I was really able to create a lane for myself. With God as my co-captain, co-pilot, and co-creator and because of my dedication to my own dreams.

Maximizing this platform, as well as through organic social media interactions, I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with major brands such as Adidas Group, Wish ATL, which is a shoe boutique in my home city, and XHALE Smoke Shop. I’ve helped friends and family launch and develop their personal brands and businesses. With the mere audacity to put myself out there as a veteran blogger/content creator (I made my online presence known circa 2009 with my very first blog – ‘The Sweetheart Chronicles’ ((IYKYK)) + I haven’t stopped talking, connecting, and networking with people since), I’ve worked on projects where the work was free for the client and the experience itself opened doors I couldn’t even imagine. I’ve been able to break into the tech world and the business world without a formal degree from a top tier institution. This is not to say that education is not important, because it is; but just that there’s a myriad of ways to expand your knowledge base and broaden your horizons. For instance, I'm currently in school, studying to become a Certified Medical Assistant, one of the few streams of income I plan to have established by the end of 2024.

All that to say, the internet, as well as the community that is able to build by connecting us with some many people we wouldn't have met otherwise has been a powerful tool for so many people to gain new opportunities through, and I'm blessed to have been a part of it's genesis, at least in terms of the possibilities. It's innovation has transformed culture, opening up entire career paths that weren't available options prior to its existence. As I'm stepping back into the wonderful, yet sometimes treacherous world of entrepreneurship, I want to continue to lean into that and teach other emerging business owners how to leverage out their internet usage with the many demands of ownership.
Like the old saying goes (in my own words), it's not always about what you know, but sometimes it's about who you know that makes a difference.
While I am still growing, learning more and more everyday, I know there's a level of expertise that comes with wingin' it, if you will. Not to say that's what I'm doing now nor that I have all the keys to success, but that is most definitely how it all started, and I think that's the case with most business owners, even freelancers and independent contractors. Back then, I had no idea what blogging and social media would become and how my own ambitions could thrive by simply being me. I had no idea that one day, creators would be given many different platforms to rocket launch themselves into wealth, creating career paths for themselves, their loved ones, and for the people who have come to admire them, in ways we never thought were possible. I couldn't wrap my mind around any of that, but I always knew I was destined for greatness and perhaps that belief is what kept me going, even when I didn't have the success nor the funds to show for it. In business and in my personal life, I want to help the people I encounter who have a hard time believing that for themselves; who have a vision but who find it challenging seeing it through, the same way I once did.

The post that marks where my head was when the lightbulb turned on for me and also sparked the idea of a complete re-brand was a part of the #CreativeBossBae series that I started a couple of years ago on this platform: BO$$ BAE BLUEPRINT | HOW TO BO$$ UP

That brings me to the introduction of the soft launch of my new-ish business venture, Chymere x Design.
Chymere x Design, formerly Sky Box Design Studio is a boutique-style Business and Branding Consultation Agency that specializes in brand identity + creative direction for new, emerging, thriving business entrepreneurs  and caters mostly to personal brands, start-ups, and small business owners. Inspired by architecture and influenced by sports, the underlining goal in the work I do is to collaborate and create positive business connections with likeminded clients who have a vision but struggle with execution.

To learn more about the Chymere x Design Brand, follow the 'About' tab at the top of the page (or on the navigation menu on most smart devices)

Some people prefer to separate business/professional and self. I applaud that route as well and as someone who has had to “hide” from the public often – for reasons we’ll, perhaps, get into later – I get it, sincerely. But I reached a place in my mind and in my life where I didn’t want to hide and divide anymore; I wanted to show my light to the world, find a way to make an impact (through my purpose, my passions, my gifts, and my overall contribution to society) and curate a career path where I’m doing what I love. That’s what matters to me. It’s also the main reason why I’ve decided to have a super laid back approach to business.

The blog will be the first to know that my first newsletter is going out this spring and I'm already anticipating reaching and interacting with my first potential client. The roll out for it was pretty lowkey, but something in me knows I'm about to change lives for the better; that's where all - if not, most - my unrelenting excitement springs from. I've poured so much love, energy, passion, and so much of myself into this project that I'm not necessarily looking for numbers that don't eventually show up in my bank account. I know I'm not for everyone, and that's okay.

Although there's bound to be some no's, some rejection, maybe even resistance on the way, but regardless, I'm on a serious recruitment mission to find and attract clients who understand the vision I've laid out and are just as excited to work with me as they are to start or relaunch their own brand or business. And though I want my products and services to be as affordable as possible for the average consumer, I'll be dropping plenty of gems and behind the scenes footage on my YouTube Channel (fresh new content coming soon!) that I hope to be a consistent extension of my company, as well as my personal brand.

As ambitious as I am, I'm also aware that what I aim to do, I cannot do alone. So if you're interested in finding out ways to show your continuous support (for free) here's how:

  • If you would like to be a part of the #CreativeBossBae Collective or simply want more details to know more about what that is, tap in ‼️DM’s (on X better known as Twitter) are open: Serious inquiries only. Let’s connect + collaborate. 📧
  • With that, I am looking for at least 20 - 40 individuals who genuinely see the vision and would like to be a part of my ambassador program, which entails joining the email list + being the first to learn about new products and services. This will essentially be the group of beta testers, who not only are the first to learn about new products, services, and exclusive drops. …but who have the opportunity to test out products and services before they hit the market…FOR FREE. The only things I ask for in return (in order to stay apart of the ambassador program) are to:
    • Subscribe to the email list by providing a good email 📧 address in the 'Contact' form.
    • Fill out the questionnaire that will be sent to your inbox. Respond within 48 hours, or the questionnaire will expire.
    • Follow my business account on Twitter (X) (@ChymerexDesign)
    • Request to follow my personal account on Instagram (@KodakChy)
  • Once these steps are complete:
    • Provide honest, feedback, and testimonials for all products and services that are offered to ambassadors.
    -Signing off-
